This exhibition explores the history of schools in Vienna's Favoriten district, dating back to its founding in 1874. It highlights the development of educational institutions, including the establishment of schools for the growing Czech population, and features an original classroom from the Komensky School.
The exhibition "Schulen in Favoriten" delves into the educational landscape of Vienna's 10th district, Favoriten, tracing its development from its establishment in 1874. At the time of the district's founding, only three schools served approximately 27,000 residents. The exhibition notes the specific historical context of establishing a private school for the district's significant Czech population in 1883, known as the Komenskyschule.
A central highlight of the exhibition is the presentation of an original, preserved classroom from the Komenskyschule, offering visitors a tangible connection to the past and a glimpse into historical teaching environments. The exhibition also references other schools that served the community, such as the Himbergerschule, Laaerschule, Knöllschule, Antonsschule, Waldschule, and Wielandschule, inviting visitors to recall their own school day memories.
