Bedern Hall Summer Programme Brings Live Music and 'The Flood' Art Exhibition to York
Bedern Hall is preparing for a vibrant summer season, combining live musical performances with a major contemporary art exhibition inside its medieval interior. The historic venue, originally constructed for the Vicars Choral of York Minster, will host a diverse cultural lineup designed for both residents and visitors exploring local heritage sites.
Experiencing 'The Flood' Art Exhibition in a Historic Setting
From 20 June to 3 July, the hall will present a special exhibition in partnership with the York Mystery Plays Festival. This display invites artists to interpret the theme of "The Flood" across a variety of traditional, contemporary, and experimental mediums.
The installation arrives following a public preview and awards evening on 20 June. Throughout the run of the exhibition, Bedern Hall will maintain its standard Wednesday through Friday schedule, allowing visitors to combine gallery viewing with regular hall tours, refreshments, and afternoon teas while pre-booked events continue as planned.
Live Music Returns With the Bedern Sessions
Following the conclusion of the art exhibition, the venue's live music series takes center stage. The popular Bedern Sessions will feature performances blending tenor guitars and whistles, offering contemporary folk sounds designed to resonate within the acoustically unique, atmospheric space. Concerts are scheduled for 17 July and 21 August, continuing a tradition of intimate performances inside the restored medieval hall.
