York Art Gallery is preparing a vibrant weekend of culture, food, and craft to mark the final days of its popular Japanese woodblock print exhibition. Running across Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2026, the special closing event offers visitors a final opportunity to experience the seasonal showcase alongside live performances and interactive workshops.

The celebratory weekend serves as a farewell to Making Waves: The Art of Japanese Woodblock Prints, an exhibition that has already drawn over 38,000 visitors. Centre stage during this final weekend will be Hokusai’s famous Great Wave on loan from Maidstone Museum.
