Curatorial context

Habitat is a photographic exhibition that challenges contemporary approaches to architecture and construction. By exploring the delicate balance between human structures and the natural world, the exhibition highlights the importance of creating sustainable ecosystems that respect our animal nature. It is inspired by the work of Silvan Architects, whose practice centers on the concept of 'sufficiency'—building less, consuming mindfully, and fostering vibrant communities where energy and resources are managed in harmony with nature. The exhibition interrogates the rapid urbanization of our landscapes, questioning the environmental and psychological impacts of a construction industry that often ignores green spaces. Through photography, the featured artists examine whether our current building culture is inherently harmful and invite visitors to rethink the relationship between urban density and the surrounding environment. By showcasing an alternative, human-centered approach to habitat creation, the exhibition prompts a reflection on how our dwellings and urban systems can better serve both humans and the broader living world.
