Nobody Can Share the Flavour of Mint is the first exhibition of the BilbaoArte Collection developed through a curatorial call, aiming to provide fresh readings of the institution's holdings. By addressing the 'problem of the name,' the curators investigate how naming establishes stable narratives and controls the perception of diverse materials. Drawing an analogy to the aromatic plant, the exhibition questions whether themes and categories can truly encapsulate the nature of art or if they merely impose a structure that conceals the work itself. The project focuses on the written information associated with the collection—such as techniques, titles, and dates—rather than seeking traditional thematic threads. The curators, Íñigo Villafranca Apesteguia and Lorenzo Galgó, propose that the act of interpretation is inherently political, revealing as much as it hides.
