A municipal literary centre devoted to writing, reading, author archives and connections between literature and other arts.

The Casa da Escrita serves as a dedicated municipal literary centre within the historic Almedina neighborhood of Coimbra. This venue focuses on writing, reading, and the preservation of author archives while fostering connections between literature and the arts. Visitors encounter a space where libraries, talks, and exhibitions keep significant literary legacies active for public engagement. The experience centers on public conversation and creative programs that illuminate the city's academic and artistic history. It remains a key destination for those exploring local heritage.

Formerly known as the Casa do Arco, this residence is deeply linked to the poet and critic João José Cochofel, a key figure in the influential *Novo Cancioneiro* movement. In 2010, the municipality of Coimbra rehabilitated the building to establish the Casa da Escrita. This project successfully transformed the site into a public centre dedicated to author archives, readings, and workshops that continue to foster active engagement with language and literature.
