Family Storytelling and Creative Workshop at the Museo de Málaga
Families visiting Málaga have a unique opportunity to engage with local history in a creative, approachable environment. The Museo de Málaga is hosting a collaborative family event combining interactive storytelling and a hands-on workshop designed to bring classical history to life for younger audiences.
Discovering History Through the Eyes of a Child: "The Lady Who Lost Her Head"
At the heart of the session is the tale of La Dama que perdió la cabeza (The Lady Who Lost Her Head), presented by Elena Lekuona from Cuentos que aman. The session centers on one of the museum's most recognizable permanent residents: the Dama de la Aduana. This ancient, headless Roman sculpture stands at the very entrance of the museum, welcoming visitors with a presence that remains deeply human despite being two thousand years old.
The story, written by María Morente and illustrated by Luis Ruiz Padrón, was published by the regional cultural ministry as part of their initiative to make museum spaces more accessible to children. The narrative bridges ancient archaeology and modern family life, focusing on a young child's perspective and their close bond with a grandmother living with Alzheimer's disease. Through emotional resonance, imaginative storytelling, and history-themed games, children can learn how ancient collections connect directly with daily experiences and family dynamics.

This special event is completely free of charge and tailored for families with children aged between 4 and 12 years old.

Because of the limited number of spots, registration must be completed in advance. Bookings can be made online via the official Museo de Málaga portal or by accessing the regional visitation booking system directly.
