This exhibition captures the diverse cultural sensitivities, local traditions, and shared identities of these communities through a series of evocative photographs.

Curatorial context

An Inner Journey documents the photographer's travels through the interior of the Malaga province, visiting nine municipalities to observe their unique expressions of Holy Week. The exhibition serves as a mosaic of regional identity, capturing processions, music, prayer, and the intimate encounters of local residents. By looking beyond the capital city, the work highlights the diverse ways this significant religious and social phenomenon is interpreted and lived throughout the region. The featured municipalities include Cómpeta, Casarabonela, Antequera, Vélez-Málaga, Archidona, Coín, Frigiliana, Arriate, and Cartajima. Through his lens, Txema Rodríguez offers a portrait of the people and their longings, synthesizing these varied experiences into a cohesive reflection on local heritage and culture. The exhibition invites visitors to discover the 'other' Holy Weeks that exist in the outskirts of the provincial capital.
