Am I Free Yet? is an exhibition born from a collaborative project by The Hidden Spire Collective, a group of individuals from diverse walks of life, including those with personal experience of homelessness and varied cultural backgrounds. Working in partnership with Crisis Skylight Oxford and led by visiting professional artists, the collective explored the concept of freedom through workshops with University of Oxford academics and creative practice. The resulting body of work connects personal narratives with broader historical reflections, specifically commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Visitors can view portraits of imagined characters captured by photographer Sam Ivin, presented alongside written reflections and original drawings created by the participants. These pieces convey a multitude of perspectives on what it means to be free, bridging the gap between historical experience and contemporary thought. The project was made possible through the collaboration of the Old Fire Station, Crisis Skylight Oxford, and numerous supporting arts and charitable trusts.
