Curatorial context

Disappearing Man is an original solo project by dancer Andrej Štěpita and musician Štěpán Janoušek, both distinctive members of Farm in the Cave theatre ensemble. The performance is a reflection, through music and dance, on the constant human need for stimulation and escape, juxtaposed with a simultaneous search for the present moment. It unfolds in a liminal space between movement and sound, with the musical composition serving as a performative contemplation of what it means to exist today and to gradually disappear. The narrative follows a guide figure on a journey, whose steps shape the path, and who shares so much of himself that he risks forgetting who he is. The piece questions presence turning into absence, sound into memory, and the human gesture into a digital trace, presenting a call for stillness that never arrives and a song of endless searching. Andrej Štepita is a performer, educator, and creator known for his work in contemporary dance and physical theatre, with extensive collaborations including Farm in the Cave. Štěpán Janoušek is a trombonist, singer, composer, and improviser who has collaborated with Farm in the Cave since 2017.
