Exhibition summary

This exhibition by artist duo sikau/pubalova transforms the gallery into an interactive sensory playground exploring themes of digestion, absorption, and interconnecting life. The works invite visitors to engage playfully with sight, smell, hearing, and touch, focusing on care, sensation, and shared well-being.

Curatorial context

The exhibition _ALL THINGS DIGESTING_ by the artist duo sikau/pubalova is conceptualized as an interactive playground for the senses, centering on the process of digestion. Installations develop this motif of absorption, linking everyday themes and the bacteria encountered in life, from microbial pathways to evolving ecosystems. The six works feature permeable boundaries, encouraging a porous, open reading where impressions and stories are absorbed and transformed into shared experiences. This approach fosters care, moving from sensation to soothing, and from sharing to well-being, creating a space to absorb ideas, scents, and textures. The exhibition's rhythm is set by sound recordings of metabolism and fermentation, translating bodily sensations into a voice that can promote healing. Central to the exhibition is the installation _Turning Green_, created in collaboration with Kunsthalle Praha through a public open call. Its sonic component features the voices of participants sharing their experiences of eco-grief and eco-anxiety, creating a collective, intimate space for shared emotion. These emotions arise from the natural sadness at landscape loss and anxiety about the future due to climate change. Through play and sensory perception, the artists create situations of care, promoting attunement and mutual harmonization, teaching visitors how to be together within an open flow of events.
