Curatorial context

The Ore and Coal Mine is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the evolution of mining practices from prehistoric times to the modern day. At its core is a meticulously crafted, true-to-life model of a mine, originating from the 1950s with construction initiated in the late 1930s. The model's corridors extend to a total length of 490 meters and are furnished with unique objects from the National Technical Museum's collection and authentically rendered dioramas. The exhibition enhances the visitor experience with integrated light and sound elements. These effects are achieved through the electrification of original mining lights, including carbide lamps and electric safety lamps, complemented by the actual sounds of mining activities. This immersive approach allows visitors to step into a realistic mining environment. Connected to the exhibition spaces and mine corridors is the Mountain Gaming Hall, an area designed for interactive games and accompanying educational programs, offering a dynamic and engaging way to learn about mining history.
