Curatorial context
Galerie Rudolfinum presents 'Qui Shi-hua: Landscapes,' a major exhibition showcasing masterpieces by one of the most significant contemporary Chinese landscape painters. The exhibition focuses on works from the 1990s, created by Qiu Shi-hua, an artist described as a Taoist who transforms his experiences through meditation. His visual world, characterized by light and energy, represents a profound synthesis of the thousand-year-old Chinese tradition of classical landscape painting, particularly the 'wind and view' branch, and impulses from Western art.
The monumental monochromatic paintings in the exhibition explore themes of simple, dream-like landscapes with sparse vegetation, often veiled in mist. These artworks exist on the border of visibility, where a mere view transforms into a vision and a mental landscape. The exhibition was organized in collaboration with Hanart TZ Gallery, Hong Kong, with curators Chang Tsong Zung and Petr Nedoma.

Last entry to the exhibition is strictly 30 minutes before closing time. Visitors are informed that admission is voluntary, allowing them to return on another day if they do not have enough time to see the exhibition fully during a single visit.
