Bíó Paradís Hosts the Latin American Film Festival 2025 in Reykjavík
Independent cinema lovers in the capital can look forward to a vibrant cultural showcase as Reykjavík's independent art-house cinema welcomes back a major cinematic event. Bíó Paradís has announced the return of the Latin American Film Festival for its third consecutive year, running from December 3 to December 6, 2025.
What to Expect at the Reykjavík Film Celebration
During the festival, the venue transforms into a lively hub celebrating the cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean through film, music, food, and community gatherings. The curated program highlights distinct international perspectives with a diverse selection of screenings and accompanying events.
The scheduled lineup features several notable titles:
- December 3: The festival opens with a screening of the 2022 Venezuelan feature The Shadow of the Sun. The screening will be followed by a conversation featuring Hasan Karakilinc, a part-time lecturer at the University of Iceland, alongside Hugo Llanes, the exhibition manager for LAFF Reykjavík.
- December 4: Audiences can view the 2025 Brazilian film The Secret Agent.
- December 6: The closing event features the 2024 Mexican film We Shall Not Be Moved, complemented by a lively Cumbia Party, live music, and authentic Mexican food provided by Poblana.
Festival Schedule and Attendance Information
The festival offers a mix of free admission events and ticketed screenings. While admission for the Venezuelan and Brazilian film presentations on December 3 and December 4 is free, attendees are required to register their ticket counts in advance through the ticketing platform.
For the final evening on December 6, standard admission applies. Tickets can be secured directly through the external ticket portal.
This year's event is made possible through the support of the Europa Cinema Network and collaborative partnerships with the European Commission’s EULAC Programme, the Embassy of Mexico in Denmark, the Embassy of Brazil in Oslo, Instituto Guimarães, and La Poblana Taquería.
