The Living Art Museum Announces Open Call for 2025 Autumn Exhibition in Reykjavik
The Living Art Museum has launched an open call inviting artists and curators to submit proposals for its upcoming autumn exhibition, scheduled for August to September 2025 at Marshallhúsið. Continuing a seasonal tradition designed to keep the venue deeply connected to grassroots practices and contemporary discourse, the museum is welcoming both solo and group project submissions.
As part of its commitment to experimental contemporary art and diverse artistic perspectives, the institution encourages applications from practitioners regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, class, nationality, or social position.
Preparing an Exhibition Proposal for Marshallhúsið
Applicants planning to submit to the open call can review structural references, such as this floor plan drawing alongside these reference images to better understand the exhibition spaces at Marshallhúsið. Proposals do not need to be fully realized at this preliminary stage, but submissions must clearly outline the underlying concepts and participating artists.
Submissions must be compiled into a single PDF document not exceeding 10 MB and sent via email. A complete application package requires:
- Contact details and date of birth for the applicant.
- An exhibition proposal and conceptual overview of up to one page.
- Five visual examples of previous works by participating artists, with links provided for time-based, audio, or video pieces.
- Individual participant CVs (maximum one page each).
- A financial breakdown and estimated transport, travel, and accommodation costs for applicants based outside Iceland.

Selected participants will receive professional support directly from the institution. The Living Art Museum covers artist fees for the exhibition and accompanying public events like artist talks or guided tours, alongside project management, installation assistance, PR, photo documentation, and ongoing fundraising support.
