Salurinn Concert Hall Hosts International Jazz Workshops and Concert Series in Kópavogur
Salurinn Concert Hall is set to become a vibrant meeting place for international musical collaboration, bringing together acclaimed artists from Iceland and Poland for a special multi-day celebration of jazz. Supported by the EEA Grants cultural fund, the initiative fosters artistic dialogue between the two nations through a combination of public performances and educational workshops.
Connecting International Jazz Artists and Students in Kópavogur
Visitors and local music students attending the events will have the opportunity to experience a dynamic lineup of performers. The visiting delegation from Poland features jazz pianist and composer Kasia Pietrzko alongside saxophonist Maciej Kądziela. They are joined by a strong contingent of Icelandic talent, including pianist Agnar Már Magnússon, double bassist Birgir Steinn Theodórsson, vocalist Marína Ósk, and percussionist Matthías M. D. Hemstock.
The collaborative project offers a series of free improvisation and jazz workshops designed for music students and developing artists, led individually by the visiting and local musicians. In addition to the daytime educational sessions, the program features two headline evening concerts at the venue:
- Marína Ósk Quintet performing on Wednesday, May 24, at 20:00.
- Kasia Pietrzko Quartet performing on Thursday, May 25, at 20:00.
