The Bookless Bungalow explores the history of the extensive British-owned fishing industry in Hafnarfjörður during the early 20th century. Visitors can tour the restored house, which served as a home and base of operations for the Bookless brothers, and view a collection of artifacts detailing their significant contributions to local fishing, processing, and infrastructure.

Constructed in 1920 for Douglas Bookless, the Bookless Bungalow stands as a monument to the influential role that Bookless Bros. Ltd. played in the early 20th-century economy of Hafnarfjörður. Alongside his brother Harry, Douglas led one of the town's largest and most significant employers, introducing transformative innovations in fishing, processing, and maritime logistics that fundamentally changed the local industry, such as the introduction of rail systems for salt-fish drying. Following the tenure of the Bookless brothers, the company's assets were managed by Hellyer Bros. Ltd. from Hull, which continued the bustling operations for a time. Since its restoration in 2008, the house has functioned as an exhibition space managed by the Hafnarfjörður Museum. The exhibition captures this pivotal industrial period, offering visitors a glimpse into the corporate legacy of the British entrepreneurs and providing access to the preserved parlor of the Bookless brothers.
