Curatorial context

As part of the Tolia Curriculum project, artist Natalia Medebach offers an immersive experience focused on encountering one's inner child. Held within a chalk circle installation, the session involves mindful touch techniques like Shiatsu and Reiki, designed to access childhood memories. Following this, participants are encouraged to draw a place of longing from their inner child's perspective, integrating a flannel cloth used during the encounter into their artwork. Over the course of the day, these individual contributions form a collective image of personal fantasy realms. Natalia Medebach, born in St. Petersburg in 1973, works as a conceptual artist in Graz, utilizing painting, drawing, installation, and performative actions. Her practice delves into themes of invisible connections, separation, and the interplay of macro- and microworlds. Medebach's background includes training as a Zen Shiatsu practitioner, Reiki master, and Chi concept teacher since 2007. This event is part of Tolia Astakhishvili's 'Tolia Curriculum', a series of workshops and participatory formats designed to unfold her artistic process for 'Figure of the Child' exhibition.
