Journey Through Asian Bronze: A Special Exhibition at the Rijksmuseum

This exhibition offers a unique celebration of 4000 years of Asian bronze art, presenting masterpieces from a wide range of countries including India, China, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Nepal, and Korea. The collection spans from prehistoric artifacts to contemporary artworks, encompassing everyday items alongside depictions of gods, each piece a testament to astonishing skill and dazzling imagination. Many objects are loaned from other prominent Western and Asian museums, including a significant work from the National Museum in Bangkok that is leaving Thailand for the first time. Designed by Dutch designer Aldo Bakker with graphic design by Irma Boom, the exhibition aims to immerse visitors in the magic of these shimmering metal objects, revealing them as tangible memories of the cultures that produced them and offering a startlingly new angle on ancient Asian art.

General admission for adults is €25, with free entry for those 18 and under and for Rijksmuseum Friends. A start time is required for visits. The museum operates on a cashless payment system for all purchases within the museum, including shops and catering outlets. Free WiFi and a cloakroom are available. An audio tour is available for €6.50 or free via the Rijksmuseum app, highlighting nine fascinating objects and their stories, with animations revealing ancient bronze-making techniques, myths, and legends. Languages: Dutch / English. Visitors should note that in the second-to-last room, the sound of bells can be heard every full hour for 5 minutes.
