Located at the top of the stairs leading to the restaurant, the Audio benches provide a unique auditory experience for visitors. Each bench offers a selection of short stories, approximately 5 minutes in length, presented in immersive 3D spatial sound. These narratives delve into various aspects of filmmaking, specifically focusing on the creation of six classic films. The subjects explored cover music, camera work, editing, screenplay, colour, and voice acting, with a special segment designed for children on voice acting. The spatial audio, combined with the panoramic view of the river IJ, aims to create a deeply engaging and memorable experience.
The Audio benches are integrated into the permanent exhibition titled ‘What is Film?’. They serve as an accessible way for visitors to engage with cinematic concepts, whether they choose to listen to all the stories or just one while enjoying a coffee. One of the benches is also equipped with braille to ensure accessibility for visually impaired visitors.
