Experience A Modern Tradition, a Contemporary Art Exhibition at Uribitarte40 Bilbao

A Modern Tradition is a commemorative group exhibition marking the 25th anniversary of the BilbaoArte Foundation. The showcase features approximately thirty works by artists who have benefited from the center's residencies, grants, and support programs over its history.

A Modern Tradition serves as the inaugural exhibition for the new Uribitarte40 space, a venue established to increase the visibility of work produced under the BilbaoArte Foundation. Curated by Javier González de Durana, the exhibition highlights the significant impact the center has had on contemporary artistic production in Bilbao over the last quarter-century. By gathering works from artists who have participated in the center's residencies and exchange programs, the exhibition illustrates the diverse creative paths taken by these practitioners after their time at the foundation. Beyond the artworks themselves, the project includes an accompanying monograph authored by González de Durana. This publication documents the fundamental milestones and work methodology of the BilbaoArte Foundation, while also providing context on the history of the center as an artistic production hub. The exhibition offers a comprehensive look at the foundation's role in the city’s cultural scene and showcases the continued professional evolution of its associated national and international artists.

The exhibition is open to the public at the Uribitarte40 Hall. Regular opening hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Sunday and holiday hours from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
