Exhibition summary

This exhibition showcases young Czech digital artists exploring the coexistence between organic life and digital environments. The artists use digital media to create complex simulations and offer unique perspectives on the diversity of life on Earth, challenging conventional aesthetic and functional laws.

Curatorial context

Invisible Forces presents works by emerging Czech digital artists who delve into the intricate relationship between organic life forms and the digital realm. The exhibition highlights how digital environments serve as a medium for creating complex illusions and simulations, allowing viewers to experience different environments, bodies, and times. The selected artists express a shared fascination with natural and physical processes, phenomena, and structures, offering individual viewpoints on the planet's biodiversity through formats that diverge from the aesthetic or functional norms of our world. One featured project, 'PHOTOSYSTEM II' by Ondřej Zunka and Zünc Studio, is an interactive installation inspired by bio-design and the fundamental process of photosynthesis. This work, a collaboration between Kunsthalle Praha and Signal Festival, uses large-format projections to depict the light-dependent phase of photosynthesis. The installation invites immersion into the micro- and macrocosms of biological systems, encouraging a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness with Earth and the potential for interdisciplinary solutions inspired by nature's functional principles. The exhibition also provides context on Kunsthalle Praha's Aw! Lab, an environment for experimental digital projects, and Signal Festival's role in supporting digital art.
