The Institute of Noblewomen Exhibition: Exploring Aristocratic Education in Prague's Rosenberg Palace

This exhibition is housed in the historically significant Rosenberg Palace and focuses on the Institute of Noblewomen, founded in the mid-18th century. It showcases period furniture, paintings, and utilitarian objects that bring to life the educational environment and daily activities of aristocratic daughters who resided there until 1918.

The Rosenberg Palace, originally built in the Renaissance style, was radically transformed in the mid-18th century into the Institute of Noblewomen. Founded in 1753 by Maria Theresa, this institution served to educate thirty impoverished aristocratic daughters until 1918. The exhibition within the palace interior displays period furniture, paintings, and other utilitarian objects drawn from the collections of Prague Castle. Visitors can expect to see historical furnishings from the Baroque period, alongside more recent interior elements from the Classical and Empire periods, as well as rare goldsmith's works. The exhibition in the salon aims to recreate the atmosphere and activities of the time when the premises served their original purpose as an educational establishment for noble women.

The tour is included in the admission fee for the “Prague Castle — Permanent Expositions” tour. Admission includes Prague Castle Picture Gallery, Story of Prague Castle Exposition, Castle Guards Exposition in Mihulka Tower, and Rosenberg Palace. Basic admission is CZK 300, reduced is CZK 200, and family admission is CZK 700.
