Rockhouse Salzburg Teams Up with Jazz & The City for Special Eleven Empire Showcase
Music enthusiasts looking for unique live performances in Salzburg can look forward to a special collaboration this autumn. The Rockhouse Salzburg concert series, Eleven Empire, has joined forces with the upcoming Jazz & The City festival to present a curated selection of live acts.
Festival director Markus Deisenberger announced the partnership following a conversation highlighting the innovative programming brought to the converted rock cavern venue by curator Sebastian König. Recognizing a creative overlap, the collaboration brings ambitious musical concepts beyond the usual venue format into the broader festival landscape.
What to Expect at the Eleven Empire Festival Collaboration
As part of this joint initiative, Eleven Empire will present two distinct concerts on Friday, October 17, with free admission for attendees.
The lineup features SCHMACK, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive ensembles within contemporary Austrian jazz. Known for combining technical virtuosity with a unique artistic identity, the group has established a strong presence on the local music scene.
In addition, electronic avant-garde pioneer Jan Jelinek is set to perform an exclusive set within the distinctive acoustic and visual setting of the Kollegienkirche. Jelinek gained international acclaim for his 2001 release Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records, which transformed jazz samples into abstract textural compositions and remains a milestone at the intersection of electronic music and sound art. Over a career spanning decades, Jelinek’s work across club culture, radio art, and experimental composition has earned him accolades such as the Karl-Sczuka-Prize and the Villa-Aurora fellowship.
