The Museumkaart offers access to a diverse range of cultural institutions throughout Amsterdam. Please consult individual venue details to confirm specific entry conditions and any potential requirements for your visit.
The Museumkaart includes general admission to a wide array of prominent Amsterdam institutions, such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and the Anne Frank House. Other covered venues include the National Maritime Museum, NEMO Science Museum, Rembrandt House Museum, and various historic canal houses like Museum Van Loon. Please note that while the pass covers standard admission, museums with capacity controls—most notably the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Anne Frank House—require visitors to book a time slot or ticket via the museum's own website in advance. Always verify current reservation requirements and any potential supplements for special exhibitions directly with the venue before your visit.
Determining if this pass is the right choice depends on your specific itinerary and planned museum visits. Assessing the annual membership requires a personal comparison of individual ticket costs against the pass benefits.

The Museumkaart is designed for those who plan to visit museums frequently over the course of a year, rather than for short, one-time sightseeing trips. Whether the pass offers useful value depends entirely on your specific itinerary, the number of exhibitions you intend to see, and your planned return visits to museums in Amsterdam or across the Netherlands. You can choose between an Adult Museumkaart, a Youth Museumkaart for those aged 18 and under, or an Adult renewal option if you already hold an eligible card. Evaluate the ticket costs of your preferred museums against the pass price to determine if this annual membership is the right choice for your cultural activities.
01
Present the registered physical card or digital Museumkaart at a participating museum. The same museum can be revisited throughout the one-year membership, making the card useful for returning to permanent collections and changing exhibitions. Admission with Museumkaart does not remove a museum's capacity controls: where a museum requires a date or time slot, reserve the Museumkaart ticket through that museum's own booking system before arrival.
02
Order the permanent physical or digital card online, or buy a temporary Museumkaart from a participating museum that sells it. A temporary card can be used immediately for up to five museum visits within 31 days. Register it within the stated period so the temporary product can be converted into the named permanent membership and continue for the remainder of the annual term.
Museumkaart is personal and museum staff may ask to verify the holder or the card registration. The digital product is limited to eligible EU residents, and delivery of a permanent physical card requires a supported address. Standard museum admission is covered, but exceptional exhibitions, events, tours or supplements may have separate terms. Always use the current Museumkaart museum page and the venue's reservation instructions rather than assuming every museum in the Netherlands participates.
