Bijbels Museum Amsterdam Highlights Inspiring Art from Atelier Kunstfabriek Oss at Museum Krona
The Bijbels Museum in Amsterdam is sharing news about an upcoming exhibition featuring the unique creations from Atelier Kunstfabriek Oss, set to be displayed at Museum Krona. This special showcase, titled "Atelier Kunstfabriek Oss X Museum Krona," will run for two weeks, from February 11 to 23, 2025, in the Kroonzaal of Museum Krona.
Visitors can anticipate a vibrant collection of expressive paintings, lively drawings, and cheerful ceramics. These works are the result of the artists from Atelier Kunstfabriek Oss, an initiative under Stichting Dichterbij. The atelier provides a nurturing environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities to cultivate and develop their distinct artistic talents.
Supporting Outsider Artists Through Special Arts
The exhibition is presented in connection with Museum Krona's ongoing display, Uit het paradijs. Kunst, mythologie, psychologie, which continues until March 16. The involvement of Special Arts Nederland has been instrumental in bringing this work to light. Special Arts champions 'outsider artists' who live with intellectual or multiple disabilities, offering them a platform to share their creative voices.
What unites these artists is the raw intensity of their art—often expressive, imaginative, direct, and unreserved. Through the process of creating and exhibiting their artwork, poetry, dance, and theater, these artists experience significant personal and professional growth. Karin Smits from Kunstfabriek Oss emphasizes the importance of these opportunities: “Receiving a full-fledged platform for this contributes primarily to the personal well-being of the people, but also to the collective improvement of the position of people with disabilities in our society.”
