Summer Family Programs and Special Offers at Museum van de Geest in Haarlem and Amsterdam
This summer, Museum van de Geest invites visitors to explore engaging and interactive programs across its two distinctive locations in Haarlem and Amsterdam. From immersive scavenger hunts designed for children to special discount opportunities, the museum offers a unique blend of discovery and reflection on the human mind.
Family Adventures at Museum van de Geest Haarlem
At the historic Dolhuys location in Haarlem, young explorers can embark on "Discover the Secrets of the Dolhuys," an interactive scavenger hunt. This adventure guides children through ancient rooms, revealing hidden symbols, unusual objects, and mysterious spaces, including a pink elephant and an original historical cell. Designed for children aged six and up, the scavenger hunt is available in both Dutch and English, with a small surprise awaiting participants at the reception desk.
For adults and families planning a visit to the Haarlem location, a special offer is available throughout the summer. From July 1 to September 1, 2025, visitors can receive a 50% discount on the second admission ticket when purchasing a regular ticket. This promotion is valid from Tuesday to Sunday and requires online reservation using the promo code ZOMER25.
Discover Hidden Animals at Museum van de Geest Amsterdam
At the Amsterdam branch of Museum van de Geest, children can step into a vibrant world of art and imagination with a special "secret animal" scavenger hunt. This activity complements the "Animal Therapy – Humans and Their Animal Muse" exhibition, which runs until September 1. Throughout the exhibition, a variety of animals are cleverly hidden, from literary cats to sheep in snowy landscapes, encouraging keen observation.
This engaging journey invites children to follow grey paw prints through the exhibition, solving creative tasks, riddles, and questions. Along the way, they will encounter famous reading cats by Louis Wain, fluffy sheep, intriguing origami-inspired animals that aren't made of paper, and imaginative creatures by Jescika van Overveld. A unique "cuddle wall" also offers a moment for relaxation during the exploration. This scavenger hunt is also suitable for children aged six and up and is offered in both Dutch and English.
These summer programs provide a stimulating way for families and individuals to connect with the museum's themes of mental health and the human mind through play and wonder.
