This exhibition at H'ART Museum featured a new installation by Mounira Al Solh, winner of the ABN AMRO Art Prize. The work, titled 'Nami Nami Noooom, Yalla Tnaaam', reflects on her childhood in war-torn Lebanon and incorporates meditative acts of sewing, alongside paintings and drawings inspired by dreams.
The exhibition at H'ART Museum celebrated the ABN AMRO Art Prize winner, Mounira Al Solh (Lebanon, 1978). Her solo exhibition, titled 'Nami Nami Noooom, Yalla Tnaaam', delves into her childhood experiences in a civil war-ravaged Lebanon. Al Solh recreated a meditative act of cutting and sewing pajamas, a practice her mother used to calm her during bombings, involving women from migrant backgrounds in the Netherlands and Lebanon. These garments formed part of a new installation, displayed for the first time at H'ART Museum. The exhibition also included paintings and drawings on paper and textiles, drawing inspiration from the artist's dreams and nightmares. The title itself refers to two Arabic lullabies from her childhood.
This exhibition was on view from November 23, 2023, to May 15, 2024. The artist's practice often involves reflecting on personal history, memory, and the impact of conflict, translated through textiles, performance, and visual arts.
