This exhibition showcased artworks by artist and writer Edith Brouwer, focusing on her linoleum prints presented within antique letterpress type cases. The series is dedicated to the life of Fré Cohen, an artist Brouwer admires.
Museum Het Schip presented works by artist and writer Edith Brouwer from November 8, 2021, to September 4, 2022. Brouwer, who lives and works in Amsterdam, creates linoleum prints in her studio. She developed a deep admiration for the work of Fré Cohen, which inspired her novel 'De Letterkast'. In conjunction with her book, Brouwer created a series of artworks featuring linoleum prints incorporated into old letterpress type cases sourced from printing workshops. These unique pieces were framed by Marlies Veldman. The exhibition highlights the linocut technique, a graphic method also used by Fré Cohen for her ex libris and other works. The letter cases themselves are displayed in the lunchroom of Museum Het Schip.
Information regarding sales of the letter cases and linoleum prints is available via www.edithbrouwerschrijft.nl. Specific ticketing details for museum entry are not provided on this page, but visitors can view the works in the museum's lunchroom during their visit.
