Curatorial context

The National Holocaust Museum presents 'Please Continue… Conversations with Holocaust Witnesses,' a significant exhibition created in collaboration with the USC Shoah Foundation. This display introduces visitors to twelve Holocaust survivors from different European nations, whose filmed testimonies highlight the diverse unfolding of Nazi persecution across the continent. A central feature of the exhibition is the 'Dimensions in Testimony' technology, which enables visitors to ask questions directly to two of the survivors projected on a life-size screen and receive their replies. This innovative approach allows for a deeply personal and interactive engagement with the past, making the Shoah tangible for contemporary audiences. The exhibition underscores the urgency of preserving these vital narratives, as the number of living witnesses diminishes. The USC Shoah Foundation's Visual History Archive, a repository of around 60,000 filmed testimonies from Holocaust survivors and other victims of mass violence globally, serves as the foundation for this powerful presentation. The knowledge resource centre at Hollandsche Schouwburg offers access to this extensive archive, making it a unique hub for historical research in the Benelux region. This exhibition is housed in the Bram and Elly Hertzberger Room, providing a dedicated space for these critical personal stories.
