Eye Filmmuseum presents an extensive exhibition and film programme dedicated to the groundbreaking work of filmmaker Werner Herzog. With an oeuvre spanning over seventy features, documentaries, and shorts, Herzog has consistently captivated audiences with unforgettable narratives, striking imagery, and memorable characters for more than fifty years. His films probe the complex relationship between humanity and the often chaotic world, as well as nature's profound indifference to human existence. The exhibition is built around key scenes from Herzog's filmography, featuring iconic visuals from works such as "Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht" (1979), "Fitzcarraldo" (1982), "Little Dieter Needs to Fly" (1997), and "Grizzly Man" (2004). Alongside these cinematic highlights, the exhibition displays documents, archival materials, and props from the Werner Herzog Archive, offering a comprehensive insight into his creative process and the team behind his visionary projects. Conceived and organized in cooperation with Deutsche Kinemathek, Berlin, the exhibition aims to capture the human condition in our times and explore "the inner landscapes of the soul," positioning Herzog not just as an observer, but as a 'furious wasp' unafraid to provoke thought and discussion.
