Brewery De Halve Maan Begins Groundbreaking Bottling Plant Project in Bruges
The historic family-run Brewery De Halve Maan has officially broken ground on a state-of-the-art bottling facility, marking a major milestone in its modern development. Construction initiated on Friday, November 29, to address the constraints of the current facility, which has reached its physical limits after years of incremental expansions. Designed to serve as a prominent architectural landmark in Bruges, the new building represents a significant upgrade in both production capabilities and environmental efficiency.
Sustainable Capacity Upgrades for Bruges' Famous Brews
The expansion is designed to support the brewery's growing international presence, with the company currently exporting 45 percent of its production to more than 40 countries worldwide. This new setup features filling lines three times larger than the existing ones. Once operational, the facility will be capable of processing 24,000 bottles per hour, while the keg line will handle up to 180 barrels per hour.
Beyond increased output, the site will house modern filtration systems, additional storage tanks, warm rooms, and logistical warehouses.
