Before arriving in Bruges, the panel underwent detailed examination and conservation work. This effort was managed by the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA), which successfully completed the project to preserve the painting's delicate narrative details.
The Masterpiece will remain on display at the Groeningemuseum until January 2027. Following this period, the Groeningemuseum is scheduled to close for its own renovation project, with key artworks temporarily moving to the future BRUSK art gallery.
