St Barnabas Church in Jericho Enters Final Phase of Ambitious Organ Project
St Barnabas Church, Jericho has officially entered the final phase of its major organ redevelopment. The 1970s Nicholson Organ, which is now out of service, has been dismantled and removed from the historic Anglo-Catholic church.
Next Steps for the Historic Instrument
During the week of 14 July, specialists from Henry Willis & Sons Organ Builders carefully took away the console, case, and pipes of the retired instrument. These components have been transported to the organ builder's factory, where the console and case will undergo a complete redesign and rebuild.
Over the coming months, these modernized elements will be combined with restored 1870s Willis pipework originating from instruments in Bargeddie and Bow Common. While a definitive installation date has not yet been set due to the complex coordination required, updates on the progress are anticipated later in the autumn.
Ongoing Support and Future Plans
While funding to cover the core construction of the new instrument is securely in place thanks to widespread generosity and ongoing efforts, additional financial support is still welcomed. The church is looking to cover upcoming installation and launch expenses, as well as establish a dedicated future maintenance fund.
