Weekend Events and Summer Hours at Reykjavík Family Park and Zoo
Visitors heading to the Reykjavík Family Park andoz this weekend can look forward to a vibrant lineup of cultural celebrations and musical performances, alongside a transition into extended summer opening hours.
The park will host special events on both Saturday and Sunday, offering families a chance to enjoy seasonal activities, live performances, and local wildlife.
Cultural Celebrations and Student Concerts in Laugardalur
On Saturday, May 30, the park will host the Cultural Garden event organized by cultural ambassadors, inviting guests to explore international foods and diverse cultural traditions in a family-friendly environment. The program runs from 12:00 to 16:00, and admission to this specific event is free.
The following day, Sunday, May 31, the grounds will resonate with music as the Reykjavík School Bands hold their annual harvest festival. Around 600 young musicians from school bands representing Árbær and Breiðholt, Grafarvogur, Austurbær, and Vesturbær and Miðbær will perform. Featuring three age-divided tiers (A, B, and C) across twelve different groups, the bands will play on two separate stages and march through the park between 13:00 and 17:00.
Alongside the weekend events, the park's animals will remain present for regular visits, and the play equipment will be accessible to guests.
Seasonal Hours and Planning Your Visit
For those planning a trip, the park will be open from 10:00 to 17:00 on both days of the weekend. A shift to summer hours begins on Monday, June 1, when the facility will open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. Furthermore, play areas will remain open every day of the week starting May 30 through the end of the school summer break in late August.
