Electrische Museumtramlijn Amsterdam Prepares for New Depot
The Electrische Museumtramlijn Amsterdam is moving forward with plans for a new depot located behind the Haarlemmermeerstation. The comprehensive building design for this significant development is now nearing completion.
Following the upcoming summer period, the final stages of the permit application process are expected to conclude. Concurrently, the detailed technical design will be delivered to the construction teams, paving the way for the next phase of the project. The initial construction on the site will include a new school, which is part of a larger district redevelopment.
Until the new depot is fully constructed and equipped, the historic tram line will continue its operations from its current temporary location at Jachthavenweg/Jollenpad.
A Dedicated Future for Amsterdam's Heritage Trams
This project represents a long-term commitment to preserving and showcasing Amsterdam's unique public transport heritage. A new, dedicated depot will provide a modern home for the museum's collection of historic electric trams, enhancing their maintenance and presentation for visitors. The Electrische Museumtramlijn offers a distinctive opportunity to experience the city's past through a ride on these preserved vehicles.
