The work involved replacing its Belgian narrow-gauge bogies with standard-gauge bogies, a necessary step for its future operations. Following this conversion, the tram was transported to the Lekstraat depot on May 22nd, where wiring connections are being finalized. These preparations are essential for the tram’s upcoming move.
Upon completion of all necessary work, the HTM 1006 tram will make its way to the National Capital Trolley Museum in Washington, USA. This international transfer highlights the global effort in preserving historic public transport vehicles and sharing them with enthusiasts and the public worldwide.
