STRAAT Museum to Host "Brazilian Soul" Exhibition from São Paulo's NALATA Festival in Amsterdam
The STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam is set to welcome a significant international street art event, bringing São Paulo's renowned NALATA festival to the city. From August 15 to October 31, 2025, visitors can explore the "Brazilian Soul" exhibition, showcasing large-scale works by nine prominent Brazilian street artists within the museum's main hall. This event is a central part of STRAAT's ongoing focus on Brazilian art this summer.
Experience Brazilian Street Art at STRAAT
The "Brazilian Soul" exhibition will feature pieces from the 2024 edition of NALATA, with several works previously displayed at Casa NALATA X STRAAT in São Paulo. Among the featured artists are Dolores Esos, Magrela, Pri Barbosa, Deco Treco, Enivo, Lobot, and Mundano. Adding to the dynamic collection, Brazilian artists Speto and Tinho will create new works directly on-site at the museum. A notable highlight includes the European debut of Zéh Palito's striking inflatable sculpture, Banana Cósmica, which was recently installed in front of São Paulo's Municipal Theater.
On August 14, prior to the official opening, a panel discussion will take place featuring NALATA founder and curator Luan Cardoso, artists Speto and Tinho, and STRAAT's educator Alex Pope. The campaign poster artwork for the exhibition was specially commissioned from Deco Treco, known for his lively and inviting visual style. The exhibition is made possible with support from the Embassy of Brazil in The Hague and Instituto Guimarães Rosa.
A Legacy of Urban Art: The NALATA Festival
Over the past five years, the NALATA festival has established itself as a leading art festival in Latin America, dedicated to urban transformation and making art accessible to a wider audience. Since 2020, NALATA has overseen the creation of more than 64 public artworks across São Paulo, turning walls, facades, and other urban spaces into an open-air gallery. This initiative has not only showcased works by established national and international graffiti artists but also fostered emerging talent, having transformed over 13,000 cubic meters of surface using more than 11,000 liters of paint. In 2024, NALATA collaborated with STRAAT Museum to present a pop-up version of the Dutch museum in São Paulo, featuring works from forty Brazilian and international artists at Casa NALATA X STRAAT.

The "Brazilian Soul" exhibition follows the recent opening of "Pixação: Resistance and Rebellion," another significant presentation exploring Brazilian art. This exhibition, running until August 31, 2025, delves into pixação, a distinctive and raw Brazilian graffiti style (though its practitioners may not call it graffiti). It offers an in-depth look at its socio-political importance and unique aesthetic approach.
