STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam Extends ABN AMRO Partnership to Boost Inclusivity
STRAAT Museum, Amsterdam's prominent institution for street art and graffiti, has announced the two-year extension of its partnership with ABN AMRO. This renewed collaboration underscores a shared commitment to fostering equal opportunities within the arts sector, with a specific focus on increasing the visibility of female artists and engaging children and young people from less privileged backgrounds.
Since its inception, the partnership has driven several key initiatives aimed at creating a more inclusive street art landscape. Notable achievements include the Women In Street Art program and the STRAAT Education Program, both of which have seen significant growth and impact.
Fostering Diversity and Youth Engagement
Over the previous partnership period, the representation of female artists within STRAAT Museum's collection and programming substantially increased, moving from 13% to at least 30%. This development aligns the museum more closely with the broader street art community's demographics and establishes a stronger foundation for internal inclusivity.
The STRAAT Education Program has also demonstrated remarkable expansion. In 2025 alone, the joint efforts reached over 15,000 children and young people, showcasing an annual growth rate of 30%. This program brings art experiences to a wider audience, investing in young talent and future perspectives. Marion Wolff, Director of STRAAT Museum, highlighted how this sustained support enables the museum to make a structural difference, reaching individuals for whom access to art and culture might otherwise be limited.
Upcoming Initiatives for Visitors and the Community
The extended partnership will continue to build upon these successes. The Women In Street Art program is set to evolve further, with a "Women in Street Art Jam" planned for the summer of 2026. This multi-day event will bring together female and non-binary artists for art creation, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions, with more details to be announced.
Furthermore, the STRAAT Education Program remains a cornerstone of the collaboration. Approximately 19,500 children are anticipated to engage with street art through the program in the coming year. Special emphasis is placed on inviting children from disadvantaged areas, facilitated by collaborations with schools designated by the Jeugdeducatiefonds. To ensure participation, ABN AMRO will provide a dedicated STRAAT-bus for schools unable to cover transportation costs, making the experience accessible to all.
This continued partnership reflects ABN AMRO's broader commitment to accelerating equal opportunities across various sectors, including arts and culture, as part of its "For every beginning" brand promise.
