Curatorial context

The exhibition 'Dit is mijn verhaal' (This is my story) showcases the personal narratives of eighteen young Christians, aged 18 to 30, who recount significant turning points in their lives. These individuals, from diverse Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox backgrounds, link their experiences of friendship, forgiveness, letting go, and self-acceptance to Bible stories that offered them hope and inspiration. The exhibition aims to present a contemporary image of what it means to be young and Christian in today's world. Visually, the exhibition features life-size photographic portraits of twelve of the storytellers, created by Zilveren Camera winner Cigdem Yuksel. Accompanying audio documentaries, produced by Maartje Duin and Lotte van Gaalen, allow visitors to hear the stories of these twelve individuals. The remaining six participants share their narratives through short, poetic films by Sanne Rovers, enhanced with animations by Tess Martin. The exhibition is a production of the Bijbels Museum and was researched by theologian and author Janneke Stegeman, who interviewed dozens of young Christians across the Netherlands.
