Curatorial context
The duo-exhibition 'Tijd en Eeuwigheid' (Time and Eternity) focuses on the direct relationship between art and the viewer, aiming for an experience where 'the head can switch off, the heart can switch on.' All three-dimensional paper art objects by Annita Smit are inspired by the theme of Time and Eternity and crafted from ultra-thin Bible paper, sometimes showing remnants of text. Visitors receive a free publication with a new essay by philosopher Joke Hermsen titled 'Dialogisch zijn: twee stemmen, twee tijden.' Alongside the paper objects, the exhibition features new poems by Gershwin Bonevacia, Babs Gons, Marjolijn van Heemstra, Iduna Paalman, and Mustafa Stitou. These poets represent a new generation whose everyday-inspired poetry resonates deeply with readers. Their new poetry is displayed among the paper art objects. The exhibition is intentionally designed without captions, guiding titles, or analyses, challenging visitors to have a "slow art" experience, akin to mindfulness for museum-goers. The exhibition is a production of the Bijbels Museum, which creates traveling exhibitions with a link to the Bible, often broadened to other currents or religions.
