This exhibition at the Bijbels Museum features eighteen young people sharing pivotal life moments and the role of the Bible in their experiences. Through intimate portraits, audio documentaries, and short films, the exhibition explores universal themes of faith, hope, and personal growth.
The exhibition 'Dit is mijn verhaal. Jongeren over geloof, hoop en inspiratie' (This is my story. Young people on faith, hope, and inspiration) at the Bijbels Museum delves into the significance of the Bible in the lives of young Christians. Eighteen individuals, aged 18 to 30, from diverse Christian backgrounds and cultures, share transformative moments from their lives and how biblical narratives provided them with strength and inspiration during these times.
Through compelling visual and auditory narratives, including portraits by photographer Cigdem Yuksel, audio documentaries by Maartje Duin and Lotte van Gaalen, and short films with animations by Tess Martin, the exhibition brings these personal journeys to life. Themed around universal human experiences such as friendship, freedom, forgiveness, and self-realization, the exhibition highlights the relatable and deeply personal connections these young people have with their faith and the sacred texts. Research for the project was conducted by theologian Janneke Stegeman, with further insights available in the accompanying book and a related podcast.
