More than half a century after his passing, this special retrospective presents a curated selection of his impressive body of work. While emphasizing pieces with a connection to Friesland, the exhibition also includes floral still lifes and scenes from Paris, offering a comprehensive look at his artistic journey. De Jong's path from poverty to becoming a renowned artist is a testament to his talent. After studying at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam and affiliating with the Bergense School, known for its expressionist tendencies, De Jong developed his own unique style, characterized by a looser approach and a richer color palette. His work gained national and international recognition, finding its place in various museum collections.
