On January 19, 2019, The Black Archives organized the '100 jaar vereniging Ons Suriname festival' to mark the 100th anniversary of the Vereniging Ons Suriname (VOS). The festival aimed to share stories of migration, hope, love, struggle, racism, and resistance, as well as business successes and art, that have been historically overlooked. The event included a 'Onze Tori platform' exhibition, a book presentation on former VOS chairman Hugo Kooks, and a screening of the documentary 'Onderneming Onderdak' about racist housing policies. Discussions featured Ernestine Comvalius and Andre Reeder from LOSON alongside younger activists, contrasting past and present activism. The evening program included a presentation and Q&A with Akwasi about his poetry collection 'Laten we het er maar niet over hebben.'
