The event 'Echoes of In*dependence: Cabo Verde i.s.m. Africadelic' marks fifty years of Cabo Verdean independence, centered around culture, music, and community. The program begins with the presentation of the 'Casa di Cabral' catalog by co-creators Tania & Mitchell, delving into Amílcar Cabral's legacy. This is followed by a screening of the short film 'A Sweet Pain,' which offers a raw look at resistance music during the struggle for freedom, introduced by Kenny Gomes. A live performance by Daniëlle Gomes will explore the sounds of the independence movement, its contemporary echoes in the Cape Verdean scene, and its personal significance.
