On November 9, 2023, The Black Archives hosted a town hall session titled 'Geen punt, maar een komma' (No period, but a comma), co-organized with the National Coordinator against Discrimination and Racism (NCDR). This event was part of the official Commemoration Year of the Slavery Past, declared by the Dutch government from July 1, 2023, to July 1, 2024. The session critically examined the Dutch state's apologies for its involvement in slavery and the slave trade, made on July 1, 2023. It questioned the significance of these apologies when not directly linked to reparations, drawing on the provocative statement from Black artist Serana Angelista. The program featured two panel discussions with key figures including Rabin Baldewsingh (National Coordinator against Discrimination and Racism), Nataly van Driel (Program Manager Slavery Past), Dagmar Oudshoorn (Chair of the Advisory Committee Dialogue Group Slavery Past), Mitchell Esajas (co-founder of The Black Archives), Saundra Williams (Former Director of Masterplan Zuidoost), and Nawal Mustafa (PhD researcher and legal advisor).
