A special event presenting the 'Route naar Herstel' report, which offers concrete steps towards long-term reparations following the city of Amsterdam's apology for its role in the slavery past. The event includes a panel discussion and the official handover of the report to a city councilor.
On April 4, 2024, The Black Archives hosted the presentation of the 'Route naar Herstel' report. This event, held at a pop-up stage in Amsterdam's Bijlmer Parktheater, marked a significant step following the city of Amsterdam's 2021 apology for its role in the slavery past. The report, developed by IZI Solutions on behalf of the Zwart Manifest, offers concrete tools and a long-term vision for reparations, informed by community input and discussions, including those gathered during The Black Archives' previous exhibition, 'Geen Heling, Zonder Herstel.' The program featured an opening, a panel discussion with key figures like Marian Markelo, Dagmar Oudshoorn (chair of the Slavery Past Dialogue Group), and Mitchell Esajas (co-founder of The Black Archives), the official presentation of the report to alderwoman Touria Meliani, and her response, followed by a networking opportunity with music.
