Curatorial context

Pushkino Style (ENG) is an artistic project that delves into the village of Pushkino in Russia's Tver region, focusing on its cultural landscape and future as seen by its youth. The project, part of the broader 'Rural School of Economics', began in 2019. It celebrates elements such as "En plein air, landmarks, decorations, logos and the design of a huge mural on a block of flats" through film and artistic expression. The initiative aims to empower young people, giving them a voice in the future of their village's culture through ongoing, bottom-up activities. In 2020 and 2021, the project extended its exploration of Pushkino, with a special focus on the surrounding natural environment. These activities were spearheaded by young individuals, with crucial support from cultural managers, visiting artists, local families, and teachers from the village school. This innovative approach allowed the young people to take ownership of Pushkino, moving beyond traditional notions of rural Russian village life and functions.
