Van Almere naar Ally: A Photography Exhibition Documenting 50 Years of Culture and Identity in Almere

Van Almere naar Ally, by photographer Richard Terborg, offers a visual exploration of Almere's dynamic evolution over 50 years. Terborg captures how residents have actively contributed to the city's culture, community, and identity, framing Almere as more than just a place to live but a space for active creation and self-formation. The exhibition illustrates the city's transformation from undeveloped land to a bustling urban center, highlighting the journey of its inhabitants from youth culture to becoming makers and pioneers. The exhibition intertwines two narratives: the story of a young city founded less than fifty years ago and the personal journey of a young migrant who found his identity, community, and maturity there. Through four thematic sections, Terborg presents photographs, stories, and portraits that reflect the city's growth and its people's self-definition. For this exhibition, Terborg invited fifty Almere artists, spanning various ages and levels of experience, to contribute. A significant component is a large wall featuring forty unique canvases, collectively forming a mosaic of voices and styles that mirrors Almere's organic cultural development, emphasizing both individuality and interconnectedness.

Tickets are available for purchase starting at €12.50 for regular admission. Youth aged 17 and under receive free entry. Museumkaart holders also have free admission. Visitors are directed to the official ticket shop for booking.
