Exhibition summary

Curatorial context
The exhibition 'Mujeres de ingenio. Plumas de Oro en el Siglo de las Letras' (Women of Ingenuity. Golden Quills in the Century of Letters) seeks to promote artistic, literary, historical, and cultural heritage by rediscovering the work of women who are barely present in the canon and largely unknown outside academic circles. Among these are figures like Luisa Sigea, Olivia Sabuco, María de Guevara, Ana Caro Mallén, Feliciana Enríquez de Guzmán, María de Zayas, Teresa de Jesús, and Lope de Vega's own daughter, Marcela.
The exhibition is structured into nine sections, further divided into three major parts that reflect the typical writing environments of these women: the court, the home, and the cloister. Curated by Doctor and Professor of Spanish Literature Esther Borrego Gutiérrez (Complutense University), the exhibition aims to bring the faces of these forgotten women, their books, manuscripts, signatures, and material contexts to the public through visual and textual means.
